Sip: Wooing Tree Pinot Noirs

The Wooing Tree – prepare to be charmed!

Wooing Tree is making beautiful Pinots from Central Otago and since we have been doing a bit of a tasting tour of the South Island Pinot paradise, this is one winery you shouldn’t miss.

The Wooing Tree is a local landmark that sits prominently in the middle of their family vineyard. It has long been a place for locals to woo their lovers, and if it could talk, would have many a story to tell…

Beetlejuice Central Otago Pinot Noir 2014

Named after the critically endangered Cromwell Chafer Beetle, which is found in only one place in the world, Cromwell. The 81 hectare site has now been set aside as the Cromwell Chafer Beetle Nature Reserve to monitor and protect their habitat.

Personality:
Beetlejuice, beetlejuice, beetlejuice! It’s showtime!

Eager and exuberant, with lots of character, this wine does jump from the glass with some dark edges and vibrant, ruby red fruit. Dense and chewy this is a mischievous wine that has a loud and boisterous laugh, making you smile and throughly love being around and indulging in its whims of fancy.

Wooing Tree Central Otago Pinot Noir 2012

Personality:
Where Beetlejuice is brimming with excitement this Pinot Noir is quietly reserved and its complexity is attractive through its simplicity. More elegant and refined than its younger counterpart this wine winks at you and beckons with a subtle come hither attitude.

Silky and sublime with an educated palate, the ripe cherries are laced with tobacco and toast and the lingering finish caresses you like an enchanting whisper.

Cheers,
Emily
